South Africa Wines From a Great Producer

2020 Boland Paarl Sauvignon Blanc    $15

A surprisingly delicious Sauv. Blanc from the Cape of South Africa. The color is bright yellow. Lovely floral notes followed with green apple, lemon grass, and minerality. Dry on the palate, crisp and good length.

2020 Boland Paarl Chardonnay    $15

Tasting Notes: The vineyards are situated in the surrounding coastal region that provide a cooler climate with the vines planted on the lower-south facing slopes. There are hints of fresh citrus, pineapple and tropical notes with an elegant unwooded wine that reflects the varietal in a fresh, ripe and crisp style.

2018 Boland Paarl Chardonnay Reserve    $25

Tasting Notes: The grapes are sourced from old vineyard blocks from the northern Paardeberg region, where small yields are hand-picked from partially water-stressed vines on shale and granite soils. This wine shows elegance in a ripe style. Layers of pear, lemon and lime flavours combine seamlessly with the creamy lees flavours and tropical notes which are integrated by the gentle use of French oak.

2020 Boland Paarl Classic Selection Cabernet    $15

Tasting Notes: Granite soils provide acidity to this wine, while shale soils contribute to the structure and fruitiness, resulting in a balanced and rounded mouthfeel. This wine shows layers of blackcurrant fruit and herbaceous hints on the nose which follow through on the palate. An elegant wine with typical Cabernet Sauvignon flavours of black fruit.

2018 Boland Paarl Cabernet Reserve    $35

Tasting Notes: These grapes are situated on northerly mountain slopes for optimal sunshine and cooling factors from the prevailing southerly winds in summer. The granite and shale soils provide ideal conditions to impart acidity and structure to the wine, which requires sufficient length of time in barrels and bottles to mature and mellow. There are layers of ripe blackcurrant and spice flavours on the palate, well-balanced with firm structure and elegance followed by lingering savoury notes.
