Champagne Friday!

Friday night was a blast with some wonderful wines opened. But one of the super fun things we did that I absolutely loved was a lineup of Champagne...

We started with a 1999 Pascal Doquet Vertus. While only Premier Cru, I was enamored with this wine! Toasty on the nose with subtle tangerine, peach, and nice minerality. A great bargain wine!

Next was the 2004 Gosset Celebris. This is the tete du cuvée of Gosset and a really pleasant bottle. Very powerful on the palate with freshly bakes bread and classic lemon zest on the finish.

Up next was the 2012 Berech le Cran. Don’t come asking me to buy this wine because I was only allocated 6 bottles and after tasing this one on Friday I AM KEEPING ALL OF THEM!! This champagne was wonderful! Perfect balance, and great complexity made this one of the best wines in the lineup.

To finish the tasting we did a trio of 2008 Champagne. The 2008 Rothschild blanc de blanc, 2008 Dom Perignon, and 2008 Pol Roger Churchill.

2008 was a excellent vintage in Champagne and all the wines were showing extremely well. The Rothschild was still tight but showed lots of promise. The 2008 Dom Perignon has been a favorite of mine since it came out. I am super high on this wine and think that with time it could be one of the best vintages of Dom ever made! The 08 Churchill was the biggest of the trio and extra moly opulent. Like walking into a bakery early in the morning...
