Enjoyable Juice at a Budget Price!

NV Clos de la Briderie Crémant de Loire Rosé Pureté de Silex $30

Tasting Notes: A wonderful, rosé sparkling wine made from a blend of grapes for the most part unique to the Loire Valley.  Winemaker Vincent Girault has been making wine here since he was 18 years old, following family traditions that date back to the 1850s.  Clos de la Briderie has been biodynamic for over 20 years. For this rosé, only the "tête de cuvée" juice (the first press juice) is used.  It's a light, fresh and elegant sparkling rosé.

2018 Domaine de la Bergerie Anjou Blanc Les Pierres Girard $30

Tasting Notes: The domaine has always adhered to a high standard of excellence: green harvest, strict sorting and separate vinification of each harvested parcel. Now, as Yves and Marie-Annick’s daughter, Anne, begins to take the lead, the domaine is converting to organic viniculture and exhibiting an exciting new energy — and fascinating wines.

2019 Louis Métaireau Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Black Label  $25

Tasting Notes: This brisk, super-dry white is made in the region of France where the Loire river meets the Atlantic. Its acidity, balanced by an attractively modest amount of fruit, is designed to cut through the richness of its classic companion, the oyster.

2018 François le Saint Sancerre Rouge $40

Tasting Notes: This comes from vines planted in clay and chalk-based soils. The fruit was hand-harvested, fully destemmed and fermenated with native yeasts. Aged in old casks before bottling. The fruit is luscious, the texture is elegant. A fine Pinot Noir from Sancerre.

2017 Château de Fosse-Sèche Saumur Rouge Éolithe $40

Tasting Notes: Aged one year partly in concrete and partly in old stainless steel beer tanks, with about 5% Cabernet Sauvignon added to the Cabernet Franc. Dark purplish-ruby. The nose has restrained smoked green notes of grilled herb, jalapeño and just a touch of blackberry. On the palate, fresh, tangy red fruit mingles with savory flavors of black olive and vegetal noble; then comes the minerality, with wispy, grippy notes of pencil shavings, on the intense finish. Nervy and thrilling.
