2015 Leroy is Rocking my World!

I woke up this morning, and like a kid on Christmas Day, opened a little gift I got for myself last night… The 2015 Leroy Bourgogne Rouge.

Leroy wines are some of the hardest wines to get in the wine world. Some are even more allocated than the famed DRC… Making this bottle of Leroy even better is the vintage it is from, 2015, which is being heralded as the best vintage in a decade!

I just popped the cork on this wine about an hour and a half ago… The first thing that I always notice about Leroy’s wines is the beautiful color, a light ruby red from a clearly unfiltered wine that sets an elegant tone right from the start. The nose jumps from the glass with fresh violets and wet earth, displaying a gentle nuance of bright cherry and sous bois. The palate is light and flirty with hints of black cranberry, pine, cassis, and a crushed minerality that darts in and out like shadows from a flickering flame. The longer you let the wine stay in the glass the more intense it becomes. Evolving to show darker fruit and delicate floral notes. The wines finished with refined tannins that are well structured without being overbearing.
