1996 Rousseau Chambertin
I helped a friend move some of his wine, so as friends do he popped a banging wine for us to try. The 96 Rousseau needed about 40 min in the glass until it really opened up.
The Chambertin shows chocolate, sour cherry, leaf tobacco, and limestone minerality on the nose. The palate is soft while still retaining a moderate amount of tannin. The acidity is a strong backbone through the length of the wine. A long finish of blackberries and coco make me want to take sip after sip.
A true stunner!
