1979 Margaux Drinks Like a Champ
I got three bottles of the first growth 1979 Margaux so naturally, we decided to pop one to see how it was tasting. Coming from 1979 I was not sure how the Margaux would be standing up, but I must say I was very pleasantly surprised to see the fruit was still fresh and the earthy nuances were perfectly balanced with the medium tannins and soft acidity.
Tasting Notes: Fall and autumn essence on the nose with barnyard and fresh forest floor after a rain. Loads of spice with cherry cobbler red delicious Washington apple on the palate with a little bit of walnut and spicy vanilla bean. Coffe grounds and espresso with dry fall leaves. great balance.
