1973 Dom Perignon, 1988 Margaux, and a Few Others

No drink January is finally over! Here are a couple of bottles that helps us fall off the wagon...

Wine of the night was of course the 1973 Dom Perignon! I still battle with myself if I like the 76 or 73 better, but one this is for sure, this bottle sure did taste delicious!! Caramel and toffee with underlying notes of vanilla combined with green apple and lemon zest.

Two heavy hitters came in from Margaux region. The 1988 Margaux and 1978 Palmer. These two wines were a decade apart, but drank very similar. The Palmer had a hint more plum while the Margaux was showing smoldering black raspberries. Hard to pick a favorite between the two.

Lastly, I was to give a shout out to the 2008 Checkerboard. I can’t remember the last time I had a wine from this producer with more than 10 years of age. The wine is extremely drinkable and showing perfectly.
