1961 Petrus
We went to Papas Steak House specifically for this wine. I have been told by many of my friends that this is the best bottle they have ever had so we got some people together, had a great meal and tasted this epic bottle....
What a fantastic wine! The nose is incredibly fresh with soft raspberry kirsch, bright red flowers, notes of chocolate, black tea, and a slight toast. The palate reflects the bright fresh fruit with added notes of lightly baked coffee beans. This wine is Heaven in a glass. After some time in the glass, the palate develops a creamy texture, like chocolate mousse cake and a lovely floral finish.
Like walking down a gravel walkway set with granite stepping stones. The path is strewn with red rose petals and outlined by vibrant violets. At the end of the path is a quaint picnic table set in the middle of a blooming cherry orchard. As the scent of the cherries fills your senses, tantalizing your palate, you notice the toasted cedar tray of chocolate dipped plums, stout raspberry kirsch, and blackberries on the table; inviting you to indulge in one of the most fantastic and complete flavor experiences you have ever had. You realize you are in heaven…
