1953 La Mission Haut Brion is Amazing!

The 1953 La Mission Haut Brion was a magical experience! This wine was still a powerhouse, tasting almost like it had a splash of hermitage in it… Meaty in texture with notes of smoked teriyaki beef jerky, old worn leather shoes, prunes, lavender, campfire, and churned dry soil. The wine expanded in the glass for over a hour leading me down the rabbit hole of dusted dark chocolate, tobacco, and crushed pencil lead. Even at the advanced age of the wine it was still in perfect harmony and tasted like it had a few more years of life left in it….
