About the Wine

Nestled amogst the Conifer and Oak forests in the beautiful rolling terrain of one of North America's most highly regarded winegrowing regions, Penner-Ash Estate is crafting some of the finest Pinot Noir in the Willamette Valley.

In 1998, Lynn and Ron Penner-Ash founded Penner-Ash Wine Cellars in the Northern Willamette Valley’s Yamhill-Carlton AVA. Bringing to life their shared vision, through years of hard work and unyielding commitment, the pair built a reputation for lush, layered Pinot Noir, and community leadership throughout the valley.

The 2021 growing season started relatively warm and dry, with an early heat event in May. An abnormal cool front in June was followed by a major heat dome leading us into one of the warmest growing seasons on record. Warm temperatures continued throughout the summer and September rains gave the vines the last drink of water before harvest.  With their impeccable attention to detail and years of experience, the winegrowing staff were able to acheive an amazing harvest of perfectly ripened grapes!

This wine reflects the region’s distinct textures, flavors and terroir, with beautiful elegance and balance. Since its inaugural vintage in 1998, the Penner-Ash winemaking team has drawn upon longstanding relationships with grower neighbors and friends, to source fruit from the most distinguished vineyards. The 2021 vintage explores five sub-AVAs, culminating in a Pinot Noir emblematic of the Willamette Valley, and of the Penner-Ash winemaking style – a textural experience from start to finish.

Penner-Ash has always strived to stay stylisticly to its roots. Even the modern day Pinots deliver the fundamental characteristics of their quest to create fine wines.

Tasting Notes:
Aromas of spiced raspberries and ripe Hood strawberries gently fold into warm vanilla oak. Rainier cherry and cocoa provide a savory sweetness and weight on the palate leading to a lengthy finish.
