Founded by Guy and Judy Davis in 1997, Davis Family Vineyards has been a lifelong endeavor to bring people together and create community with delicious wines. From their Estate Vineyard, Soul Patch, in the heart of Russian River Valley, they have grown a family as well as helped grow this wine region through careful craftsmanship and earth friendly farming. After working his entire life in the vineyard and winery, Guy has been joined by his youngest son and Assistant Winemaker, Cooper. Together, they craft a wide range of limited wines from organically and sustainably farmed vineyards with minimal intervention and a lot of passion for every detail of farming and fermentation.
As a family of farmers, the Davis' have more than 20 years of history of growing and purchasing sustainably farmed, organic, or biodynamic grapes. The Rockpile Ridge Vineyard has sweeping sun exposures from southeast to northwest and sits at nearly 1,200-feet in elevation. The varied sun exposures, soil compositions, slopes and drainages make these sites a winemaking dream come true and are what make our the wines from this vineyard so alluring.

This vintage is stunning, the first comeback from the drought years. Although the crop was small, the flavors are amazingly intense, with layers and complexity possibly the best of the last 12 years, since they first began working with this selection of vineyards in Rockpile Ridge, the Mountains above Lake Sonoma.
Tasting Notes:
Rockpile CAB 5 is beautifully detailed on the nose, with perfumed notes of black cherries, dried violets, loganberry, dusty iron earth, shaved cocoa bean, charred oak, and coastal dried underbrush. It's vibrant and energetic entry leads to the expected full-bodied expression of Rockpile Bordeaux Varietals. This vintage is also defined by a delicious, sophisticated and tailored tannin profile, concluding in a superb multi-layered finish with a candied fruit element that's seductive and even more rewarding with time in the glass.
