S by Ray Signorello was motivated by a longing to work with fruit from areas beyond the boundaries of the singular Signorello Estate Vineyard in southern Napa Valley. Ray Signorello and winemaker Priyanka French were intrigued by prestigious and diverse appellations such as Howell Mountain, Rutherford, and St. Helena, with a vision to produce a modern, plush, and ultimately crowd-pleasing Cabernet Sauvignon. The label creation for S was inspired by the simplicity and elegance of Ray’s heirloom monogrammed cufflinks, given to him by his father, Ray Sr., the visionary co-founder of Signorello Estate.
This distinctively rich and delicious wine derived from a selection of acclaimed vineyard sites boasts layered aromas, generous ripe flavors, a plush mouthfeel and complexity in its youth for immediate enjoyment.
Tasting Notes
In its introductory vintage, the 2019 S provides the perfect example of the vision for this label. Dark and dense to its core, the wine is complex, layered and nuanced. Inky in color, this wine greets you on the nose with dark black fruit, graphite, lavender, crème de cassis opening up further into herbal tea, rose petals and leather. Silky and juicy tannins elongate the length of this wine finishing up with mocha, cedar and chai spices. Rich and expressive, the S is a knockout wine that is approachable in its youth and will continue to evolve in the years to come.
