A show stopping wine from a show stopping vintage, this Puligny Montrachet comes from grapes sitting directly adjacent to Grand Cru Bienvenues Batard Montrachet. Incredibly pure and intensely flavored, this is classic Puligny at its finest.
About the Wine

Tasting Notes

Puligny Montrachet “Enseignières” 2019: 4 barrels made; 25% new. Enseignières is located directly below the Grand Cru of Bienvenues Batard Montrachet. A Tour de Force for village level Puligny. Classic Puligny nose of wet calcaire, smoke, white flowers and orchard fruit blossoms. On the palate the wine is compact and tightly woven; lots of sweet stone fruit, sexy toasty oak with a firm attack, wonderful length that finished back on calcaire and nerve.

Property Info

Domaine Guillemard-Clerc is owned by Corinne Guillemard-Clerc. She is the 3rd generation of grape growers on the Guillemard side. Corinne created her domaine in 2003 and is the first to make the vinification and bottle under the family name. Finding any volume is difficult here as the domaine only owns 10 hectares divided between 15 appellations & 17 parcels; the majority is in Puligny and Beaune. The grapes are hand harvested, sorted and go directly from the press into barrel for alcoholic fermentation. The wines here show class and precision. Their 2019's are almost a hypothetical blend of the 2018 fruit mixed with the strong backbone and nerve of the 2014s. Alternatively, you can think of them as a longer lived, more concentrated version of the delicious 2017s that we all love so much. Either way, this is an all star, classically styled vintage for both reds and whites.
