About the Wine

Typecast as “The Heartbreak Grape,” pinot noir is also the most malleable, expressive, and beguiling of classic French varietals. Bruliam produces pinot which seduces with ethereal aromatics that range from perfumed violets to candied berry to spice and earth.

At Bruliam, which was started with a single barrel, they strive to bring you the best pinot noir by seeking out select vineyards that specifically showcase distinct aromatic and flavor profiles. Sourcing pinot noir from sites so exceptional and so iconic that even a novice wine connoisseur could distinguish one wine from the next. Winemaker Kerith Overstreet has grown their portfolio of tantilizing wines to around 1000 cases per vintage.

Two years after Bruliam's initial request for the highly-acclaimed Sangiacomo-Roberts Road Vineyard, Mike Sangiacomo finally had fruit for Bruliam Wines- a mixture of Pommard and 115 clones.

Planted in 1998, this Robert’s Road vineyard was transformed from an open field to premium pinot noir by a farming family with a reputation for excellence. The soil is well drained and requires no amendments. It’s the first vineyard in the Petaluma Wind Gap to see morning fog, and it’s the last to clear. The fruit ripens slowly, almost 2 full weeks after Gap’s Crown. This ensures complete phenolic ripeness without spiking sugar. This is cool climate pinot in its prime. A tribute to generations past and generations to come, Sangiacomo Vineyard is 100% sustainably farmed, certified by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance.

It goes without saying that this site ranks among the finest and most beloved Sonoma County vineyards.

Tasting Notes:
Wild cherry and cranberries melt into soft cinnamon stick and cedar notes. The 2019 Sangiacomo is lively and charming. Jaunty acidity adds brightness while the tannins are soft and gentle. Sweet red fruit plays alongside fresh sage and wild herbs. Pommard clone showcases spice and savory undergrowth while the 115 clone delivers on the palate. This wine is pretty and feminine, medium bodied, and the ultimate food wine.
