About the Wine

Hertelendy Winery is a boutique winery located in Napa Valley, California, known for producing high-quality wines. It was founded by Ralph and Santiago Hertelendy, a father and son team, with the goal of crafting limited-production wines that showcase the unique terroir of the region.

The winery is situated in the Howell Mountain AVA (American Viticultural Area), which is known for its volcanic soil and higher elevation vineyards. This location allows Hertelendy Winery to cultivate grapes that develop complex flavors and exceptional quality.

Hertelendy Winery focuses on Bordeaux varietals, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec, but also incorporates other red varietals like Syrah and Petite Sirah into their blends. Their winemaking philosophy revolves around meticulous vineyard management, hand-harvesting the grapes, and employing traditional winemaking techniques to bring out the best expression of the fruit.

They have gained recognition for their commitment to quality and have received accolades and high ratings from respected wine critics.

Tasting Notes:

The 2018 Red Blend Audere gives up a solid, darker, subtly herbal nose with lots of black fruits, chocolate, and spicy nuances. This carries to a ripe, plush, sexy red offering a big, expansive mouthfeel, plenty of mid-palate depth, and ripe tannins. Great structure and balance will afford this wine plenty of time in the cellar, only getting better with time.
