Château Les Hauts-Conseillants is a well-known vineyard and wine-producing estate located in the Pomerol appellation within the Bordeaux wine region of France. Château Les Hauts-Conseillants is recognized for its production of wines primarily from the Merlot grape. The estate is celebrated for its dedication to producing elegant and robust red wines characterizing classic Pomerol qualities.
The Hauts-Conseillants Castle is one of the most famous vineyards of the Lalande de Pomerol appellation. It is the result of the dream of a contractor of Libourne in love with wine, Léopold Figeac. He purchased 1973, four hectares of abandoned vineyards, located at Lalande on light bass clay. With his daughter and son-in-law Pierre Bourotte, already an owner in Pomerol, they enlarged the vineyard by buying about 6 acres of land located on tray argilo-sabloneux of Chevrol to Neac.
Composed of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc aged in approximately one-third new oak, the medium garnet-purple colored 2015 Les Hauts-Conseillants hits the ground running with bold blackberries, cassis and crushed plum notes plus hints of bay leaves, smoked meats and black truffles. Medium to full-bodied and generously fruited in the mouth, it fills the palate with youthfully delicious, fresh black fruits, framed with chewy tannins and a lively backbone, finishing on a savory note.
